Explain something about your area that outsiders probably don't know.

If a forum member were to take a trip to your part of the world, what would you tell them that they probably won't read about in travel brochures?

The Chicagoland area has a ridiculously large number of tiny museums dedicated to weirdly specific topics. I know about this mostly because of a local TV show called "Wild Chicago" that basically explored anything weird in the local area and they spent an awful lot of time covering the many tiny museums in town. You can probably find old episodes on YouTube.

Anyway, here's a couple of articles covering a few of them:

60 million years ago the Dinosaurs went extinct. At that time 95% of all life went extinct. No creature survived larger than 10 kilograms.

Also at that time the Jurassic Forests suffered too. The new broad-leafed forests evolved, flowers evolved, and colonised everywhere. And the old narrow leafed forest, which covered the entire globe, retreated.

Today, I live in the only remaining Jurassic forest left on the planet (of any noteworthy size .. 20,000+ hectares or 50,000+ acres)) The Bunya Mountain Range

I own my own Jurassic Mountain, an if ya wanna visit me ... then just book here ....
