Why Conservatives Vote Against Their Own Self Interests

    (View video on YouTube)

Sorry. It was supposed to start at 1:25 into the clip.
When conservatives realize they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will abandon democracy.

They don't vote against their own interests, though.

Democrats answer for everything is to raise taxes. Republicans do not raise taxes. This is one of the first rules of politics, like how the sun rises every morning.

People who vote Democrat vote against their interests. Even Sanders said he would raise taxes for medicare for all, so it won't be free.

No, you're right, it won't be free, it will be at a refund. It takes a special kind of gullible to believe that the "employer" and employee insurance fees (in reality, both are excuses to pay you less) amount to a lesser sum than the tax burden of m4a, given the slice of your healthcare dollars that go to admin costs instead of healthcare.

It's an industry that functions by taking a cut above and beyond the healthcare cost, and whose existence keeps costs high naturally. You have been trained like a pavlovian animal to have a fear response to the word 'tax'.

    Tax.

    Tax.

    Tax.

    Tax...

Maybe if I say it enough you'll run away like a dog from the sound of thunder!

My brother in law would be ecstatic if his taxes went up $300 but his $600 per month he pays for employer provided health insurance was dropped.

We now have another study by Yale university that the nation would save tremendous amounts of money and save thousands of lives over what we have today. You have to be a moron to think our healthcare system today is superior.

As I said, he's been trained to hear "tax" and think Satan is coming to plumb his bunghole with a coat hanger. There's nothing rational about his understanding of the word, just an anxiety response trained by years of conservative talk news. It's the mindless sort of reaction that, well, betrays a training to vote against their own self interest

Or another solution would be learn a skill and get a better job that gives you affordable healthcare. If you're working 30 hours a week as a cashier at McDonald's, the problem is YOU, not the system.

Remember how we've been over this? McDonald's jobs are supposed to be for teenagers to get some work experience for pocket change before moving onto bigger and better careers. The idea of the 40 year old working as a lowly cashier for 30-35 hours a week is a relatively new thing. People have gotten lazier and lazier and want more for being lazy.

My brother in law is a skilled certified electrician and sign technician.

He's had to climb up into this thing to relamp and rewire it in 10 degree temperatures.

Mcdonalds employees don't get health insurance at all, unless it's medicaid that we all pay for.

ETA: Where is this rule that says McDonalds jobs are for teenagers to get job skills. Please cite where this rule is stated.

Vote against your own self-interests. Is that like low skilled/income folks supporting open borders and mass migration of low-skilled immigrants?

Besides open borders and mass uneducated immigration, sanctuary cities, and tax the beejesus out of those who work the hardest to make a better life for themselves, and hand it over to those who would rather sit on their arses all day and expect government to provide for them instead. These people most certainly would be voting against their own self interest.
